Generating clean, renewable electricity from crop waste, this Gold Standard project is an extraordinary example of how a really good energy initiative can create benefits far beyond its emissions cuts.
Renewable energy and forest preservation work hand in hand here, supplying 80,000 people with clean electricity and protecting an area of rain forest about three times the size of Greater London.
A case study in how ‘run-of-river’ hydropower can generate clean energy without the damaging effects of a dam – and with numerous extra benefits to this impoverished area of China.
Small measures can have big effects. This discrete clean energy project is creating improved quality of life in a remote area, with emissions reductions equivalent to taking nearly 8,000 British cars off the road
Occupying a coal-rich region of China, this acts as a direct alternative to coal fired power, not only reducing carbon emissions, but pollutants like sulphur dioxide too.
